Olio di oliva

Oil Production in Lombardy

A drop in oil production that is around 60-80%. The data for Lombard olive growing are worrying a few weeks before the start of the harvest (2021). Only a few fruits remain on the plants and the causes of this cascola are to be attributed to the climate, periods of frost alternating with days of great heat and phytosanitary problems related to the presence of alien insects such as the Asian bedbug.

Wine in Lombardy

A week late, the harvest began in Franciacorta, in the area of Brescia. Coldiretti Lombardia has estimated an average drop in crops of about 15% compared to last year. In the next few days, operations will also go live in Oltrepo 'Pavese, while the last to leave will be the winemakers from Valtellina.
The delay in harvesting is due to the late spring frosts which actually slowed down the development of the vineyards, on which several localized hailstorms, sometimes violent, hit them in the summer months.
